Plot Summary: The book follows Joy Candellaro, a high school librarian who is reeling from a painful divorce and the emotional fallout of her sister’s engagement to her ex-husband. Seeking an escape, she impulsively books a flight to Hope, Canada, but the plane crashes in the dense rainforest of the Pacific Northwest. Surviving the crash, Joy wanders until she arrives at a lodge run by Daniel O’Shea and his young son, Bobby, who is grappling with the recent loss of his mother. As Joy forms a bond with Bobby and Daniel, she finds herself drawn into their lives and the spirit of Christmas. However, she must confront her own heartache and the reality that she may not belong in this newfound family. Ultimately, Joy embarks on a journey of self-discovery and healing as she navigates love and loss during the holiday season.

Review: I guess it boils down to this – this story did not pull at my heartstrings. It’s a book I read while waiting for my boys at the pickup line. It’s a book I’d forget about the next day. If you’re looking for a Hallmark story, this will do.
